  • PADI Master SCUBA Diver rating, NZ Sea Adventures, Wellington - Specialty SCUBA

Specialty courses are important for many reasons.  You learn about the safety aspects of diving in the specific environment and/or with the specialised equipment – as well as how to get the most out of your time diving in the Specialty area.

Most Specialty courses only require you to be an Open Water Diver and some don’t even require you to be a certified diver at all.  Others have more pre-requisites as they demand more of your SCUBA skills.  If you are an Open Water Diver and have been thinking of doing your Advanced Open Water course, you can do this with your first five Specialty courses as long as they meet the criteria and include Navigation and Deep Diver.

At New Zealand Sea Adventures we highly recommend the PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty, TDI Nitrox Diver, PADI Night Diver, and certainly your PADI Navigation and Deep Diver courses.  PADI Wreck Diver is a personal favourite as Tony is fanatical about wreck diving and be sure to try the TDI Intro to Tech course too.  The Drysuit diver Specialty is a must for anybody weary of the cold and we have an extensive range of all the best new Drysuits on offer as well.  DPVs and Drift Diving are far too much fun to be missed out on and you really need to learn about Digital Underwater Photo/Videography to capture all the best moments to share with family, friends and for all the nostalgic types who like to look back at what they’ve done every now and then..

There is also the latest style of Recreational Diving – the Sidemount Specialty course is a great option for those wanting more bottom time without the extra weight of Twin tanks and the flexibility of our new Sidemount rigs also have some of the best features for excellent trim and overall comfort in the water.

There are plenty of Specialty course options available so you can pick and choose to your preferred interests or ask us for advice on a Specialty we think you will enjoy and benefit from the most.  We’d love to help.

    Enriched Air Diver
    • Enriched Air Diver/EANx

You can typically stay down longer and get back in the water sooner. No wonder many divers choose this as their very first specialty.

The PADI Enriched Air Diver course is PADI’s most popular specialty scuba diving course, and it’s easy to see why. Scuba diving with enriched air nitrox gives you more no-decompression dive time. This means more time underwater, especially on repetitive scuba dives.

During the course you will cover techniques for getting more dive time by using enriched air nitrox, enriched air scuba diving equipment considerations, enriched air considerations, including managing oxygen exposure, how to tell what’s in your scuba tank and how to set your dive computer by doing the PADI eLearning course. Then you can come in to the shop at a time that suits to practise analysing cylinders, planning dives and other reviewing safety aspects of enriched air. We can then head out and dive the 2 optional Enriched Air dives with our weekend club dives.
